Acceptance of an abstract for oral presentation mandates submission of the manuscript to an approved journal. ARS members submitting an abstract for oral presentation must prepare and submit a manuscript to the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology (IFAR). Non-ARS members may submit to either IFAR or Rhinology.
ARS-Members wishing to be exempt from this process must request so at the time of abstract submission (explained below). Requests for manuscript submission exemption by ARS members must adhere to the following policies and procedures as described in the ARS bylaws.

  1. The author must request exemption by the abstract deadline of the ARS meeting at which the manuscript would be presented

  2. The request must be emailed directly to the chair of the Research and Grants committee at bleierb@gmail.com. This email request must contain the following three elements: (a) The name of the intended journal along with the journals most recent impact factor(must be greater than 5), (b) The body of the final abstract and the assigned abstract number, and (c) the completed manuscript as an attachment. This may be a rough version and can be altered prior to the final submission without additional review by the ARS

  3. The manuscript must be submitted to the outside journal by the manuscript deadline of the ARS meeting at which the abstract will be presented. A receipt of submission from the outside journal must be emailed to the chair of the Research and Grants committee at bleierb@gmail.com by the manuscript deadline of the ARS meeting at which the abstract will be presented.

  4. The final manuscript must be submitted to Wendi Perez (wendi@american-rhinologic.org) by the manuscript deadline of the ARS meeting at which the abstract will be presented for session moderator review.

  5. If the manuscript is rejected from the outside journal it must be submitted to the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology.

  6. If after reading these rules and considering the responsibilities to complete the exemption process you still wish to file an exemption, please select "Oral Presentation - Journal Exempt" below. Also, you must select Journal Exempt in addition to a primary topic in the "Topic" dropdown box. Otherwise select Oral or Poster presentation and abstract topic as appropriate.
